COVINGTON, Ky. -- Heavy rain overnight caused a landslide on Amsterdam Road Friday.
A large pile of dirt, weeds and brush slid onto the northbound side of Amsterdam Road near Montague Road, the city said in a news release.

The road was closed while a public works crew cleaned up the mess. The city set up a detour in the meantime.
"Our guys have been out in the rain this morning clearing it away, and we're going to get the road back open as soon as we can," Covington Public Works Director Rick Davis said.
Ensuring that another landslide doesn't happen could take a couple days, especially with more rain expected, Davis said.
