COVINGTON, Ky. -- You got a white Christmas? It was more like a wet Christmas for one homeowner.
A water main break on Madison Avenue sent several inches of water into Jim Brummett's house Monday morning. He woke up around 7:30 a.m., saw flashing police lights and noticed a "river running down Madison."
The water came into his home's lower level, and it was about 6 inches deep at one point, he said. Some clothes and carpet got soaked.
"At least none of the young kids were here, so that's a plus... It's not that bad," Brummett said.
The Northern Kentucky Water District closed Madison in the 2700 block as crews checked out the damage.
