Covington police arrest man with gun in Sixth District Elementary School parking lot

COVINGTON, Ky. — Covington police arrested an armed man in the parking lot of the Sixth District Elementary School on Friday.

Police were called to the school by an employee who said 24-year-old Tyler Gregg pointed a gun at him during an altercation.

When law enforcement officer arrived at the scene, they made contact with Gregg, who was in a vehicle parked on school grounds, and found a loaded semi-automatic handgun on the vehicle's dashboard.

The school was placed on lockdown for the duration of the interaction between Gregg and the police.

Gregg is now in the Kenton County Jail and is facing charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property. His initial court date has not been set.
