COVINGTON, Ky. -- What says summer more than beer or key lime pie?
How about both.
Covington-based Braxton Brewing Co. and Graeter’s are teaming up yet again to release a Key Lime Pie Ale just in time for summer.
The beer is the second mashup between the brewery and ice cream maker. The pair created a Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout in 2017.
Braxton CEO Jake Rouse said the summer collaboration has been a long time coming.
“After the fanfare we received from the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout, we immediately knew we would continue our friendship and partnership with the Graeter’s team,” Rouse said.
The brew was modeled off Graeter’s Key Lime Pie ice cream, which is flavored with real key lime juice and pieces of crunchy graham crackers. The ale is brewed with vanilla beans, cinnamon, lactose and key lime zest to create a taste that mimics Graeter’s classic ice cream flavor.
Beer lovers will be able to sip the ale in Braxton’s taproom on Tuesday. Four-packs are also available at stores in Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Louisville and Lexington.
Braxton Brewing Co. will also host a weekend release party Friday through Sunday in the Covington taproom.
