SYMMES TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- After their Thursday night breakup, Jamie Gibson decided she would let her now-ex-boyfriend, David Mueller, stay one more night in the home she shared with her children. In the morning, he would be expected to leave for good.

By the time Mueller did leave, Gibson was "bleeding heavily" from multiple stab wounds and deputies were racing to the scene, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Per the release, Gibson woke around 5 a.m. Friday to discover Mueller -- already once convicted of manslaughter in 2004 -- standing over her bed with a "large butcher knife" in hand. He stabbed her in the back first, then again in the torso and "several more times" in the lower body as she struggled to escape his reach.

Gibson grabbed the knife, threw it under the dresser and called 911 while Mueller retrieved it, according to deputies. When they arrived, they found her bleeding in the front lawn and Mueller fleeing the scene on wheels. He had stabbed her multiple times in the back before leaving.

"Deputies were able to get the car stopped and took (Mueller) into custody without incident," according to the release.

Court documents indicate Mueller faces a charge of attempted murder in connection to the stabbing.

By Friday afternoon, Gibson had been hospitalized in stable condition. None of her children were harmed in the incident.
