Priest fired from St. Xavier after allegations of 'inappropriate communications' with student

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A St. Xavier High School priest was fired in February after school officials discovered "inappropriate communication" between him and a student, but no charges appear to have been filed in the intervening months.

According to St. Xavier spokeswoman Becky Schulte, faculty learned Feb. 15 that the priest had been involved in the aforementioned “inappropriate communication” and immediately placed him on administrative leave.

He lost his job eight days later, Schulte said.

Although she added the school had “notified the Springfield Township Police Department and presented them with all information known to us,” the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts website does not list any charges filed against him since the incident.

After a discussion with newsroom leaders, WCPO declined to include the priest's name in the story because he is not facing criminal charges.
