High school student shot dead near Crutchfield Memorial Park in Springfield Township

SPRINGFIELD TWP. — A North College Hill High School senior is dead after being fatally shot in Springfield Twp. Saturday afternoon.

Springfield Twp. Police responded to the scene of a shooting near Crutchfield Memorial Park on Simpson Avenue just before 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Police have not yet released the victim's identity.

According to police, the incident started as a large fight that ended in gunfire. When officers arrived on the scene, they found one victim shot; he was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Eugene Blalock Jr., superintendent for North College Hill City School District, confirmed on the scene that the victim is a North College Hill High student, and said he came to support the victims' North College Hill classmates in the area.

Springfield Township Police as that anyone with information about this homicide call 513.729.1300.

This is the second fatal shooting in the area of Crutchfield Park this year; in April, 22-year-old Reginald L. Mack was shot and killed in the same park. There have so far been no arrests made in connection with that homicide.
