SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- The Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy struck in a hit-and-run Thursday smiled reassuringly from his hospital bed Saturday in a photo that said he's "back on the mend."
“Back on the mend. Thanks to all for the messages, visits and prayers," was the message on the photo of Deputy Curtis Taylor that Cincinnati FOP President Dan Hils posted on Facebook.
The photo shows Taylor's right arm heavily wrapped and his right forehead bandaged. He was also apparently taking oxygen.
According to the sheriff's office, Taylor's medical condition "is critical but stable." In an update Saturday, spokesperson Doug Daugherty said Taylor was "doing well. Just talked to him. Condition still the same. He is getting stronger."
Taylor's photo had received more than 550 likes and well-wishes from more than 120 commenters.

Taylor was struck just before midnight Thursday working an off-duty traffic detail on Hamilton Avenue, according to Sheriff Jim Neil and Capt. Tom Butler said.
Taylor underwent surgery Friday morning for undisclosed injuries, Neil said.
Anyone wishing to help Taylor and his family as he recovers can donate to his GoFundMe page.
The driver suspected of hitting Taylor, 34-year-old Daniel Reynolds of Fairfield, was arrested Friday and is facing a felony charging of leaving the scene.
It turns out Reynolds was out on a bail on a similar charge when he’s accused of hitting Taylor. At Reynolds’ court appearance Saturday, the judge said Reynolds was convicted of failing to stop after a crash in 2014.
The judge put Reynolds in jail on $1 million bond.
