Police officer accused of OVI after crash

SPRINGDALE, Ohio — A Springdale police officer has been placed on leave after he was accused of OVI.

Brandon Osborne, 36, was driving a pickup truck northbound on State Route 747 near Port Union Road at about 1:35 a.m. Friday when he crashed into a semi he was trying to pass and a southbound vehicle waiting in the oncoming left-turn lane, according to a West Chester police report.

Osborne was driven to Mercy Health - Fairfield Hospital. No one else was injured, according to the report.

Police issued a ticket to Osborne on allegations of operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to control.

Springdale police said Osborne is an officer with the department. He has been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation into the veracity of the charges.
