MADEIRA, Ohio — Madeira Police are still searching for the man who murdered a convenience store owner earlier this month, and authorities have doubled their reward for information that leads to his arrest.
On Feb. 9, police said the unidentified man shot Madeira Beverage owner Roop Gupta, 68, during an armed robbery at the store on Kenwood Road. Gupta was rushed to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he later died. Since then, the community has raised more than $61,000 to support Gupta's family.
Police said the suspect stands 6 feet tall, weighs 240 pounds and was wearing black clothes with a red face mask at the time of the shooting. He was last seen fleeing the store in a vehicle headed north on Kenwood Road, but police do not have a description of the vehicle.
Madeira Police have since received $10,000 from a Cincinnati-based business to double the $10,000 reward offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for information "leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible."
Anyone with information is asked to call Madeira Police at (513) 272-4214 or the ATF at 1-888-283-8477.
