Deputies were called to North Cooper Ave. at around 10:30 a.m. and found Brooklyn Terrell, 17, in the backyard, with a gunshot wound in her chest. She was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she died from her injury.
Police said Terrell and two male juveniles were handling a stolen gun inside the home.
A 16-year-old boy is being charged with reckless homicide, obstructing justice and tampering with evidence. The other suspect, a 14-year-old boy, is charged with obstructing justice, tampering with evidence and theft of a firearm.
Lockland Local Schools went on lockdown briefly after the shooting, as a precaution, which was lifted once Police determined there was no threat to students or staff.
The district said the shooting did involve students who attend Lockland Local Schools, and the schools will have grief counselors on site Thursday for students and staff.
