FAIRFIELD, Ohio — Fairfield hired a familiar face as its newest assistant city manager.
Scott Timmer, who has worked in Fairfield's finance department since 2016, was selected for the job, acting city manager Don Bennett announced on Friday.
Named finance director in 2018, Timmer has been "very involved in the day-to-day operations of the City as well as labor relations with the City’s four unions," according to the announcement.
Before working in Fairfield, Timmer served as a U.S. government accountant for six years with the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs and the Environmental Protection Agency. At the Department of Defense, he graduated from the Defense Civilian Emerging Leader Program in 2012.
Timmer also participated in the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program in 2018. Originally of Hamilton, Timmer holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Dayton and a Masters of Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University.
Timmer is also a member of the Fairfield Rotary Club and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Greater Miami Valley YMCA and his alma mater Badin High School.
The search continues for Fairfield's next city manager after Mark Wendling's resignation last month, according to WCPO media partner The Journal-News. Bennett, Fairfield's fire chief, currently serves as acting city manager.
