FAIRFIELD, Ohio — Fairfield South Elementary School will be closed Wednesday after the district learned that a non-school-age sibling of a student was tested for the coronavirus on Tuesday, according to the district’s website.

The district said it consulted with the Butler County General Health District, and it was determined the closure of the school was not necessary. However, the district will close the school on Wednesday “strictly as a precautionary measure so that our staff may thoroughly clean and disinfect South Elementary,” the website said.

The student at South Elementary will not be attending school “until the risk of contagion is resolved,” the district said.

“At this time, we are not aware of any students or family members of students in any of our schools testing positive for the COVID-19 virus,” it said.

“The District takes these matters very seriously and will continue to collaborate with the Butler County General Health District as these situations develop. The safety and well-being of our students and staff will continue to be our top priority.”
