UPDATE: ODOT announced Sunday morning that I-71 is now open to two lanes on the mainline, a day ahead of schedule.

The ramp from the Norwood Lateral east to northbound I-71 and the contraflow lane are also open.

Drivers now have access into and out of the contraflow lane from both the lateral and the mainline on northbound I-71.

Initial report:

CINCINNATI — Traffic lanes on I-71 will be changing again soon, but not before some major repaving will close all but one lane of the northbound side Friday night.

The weekend will see several traffic changes along I-71 northbound, specifically between the Norwood Lateral and Stewart Road.

According to ODOT officials, I-71 NB will be down to one lane from 8:00 p.m. Friday night until noon on Saturday.

ODOT announced crews will be milling and paving the highway to prepare the pavement for upcoming winter weather.

Kathleen Fuller, public information officer with ODOT's District 8, said after that, the highway will open to two lanes: one lane on the main highway, and the other in the contraflow lane.

She said the ramp from SR-562 EB to the contraflow lane will be fully closed over the weekend as well. According to a press release from ODOT, the ramp will be closed until 5:00 a.m. Monday morning.

On Monday, ODOT said they will reopen the ramp and open I-71 NB to two full lanes again.
