COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A police officer was injured while trying to make an arrest outside of Xscape Theatres in Northgate, according to the Colerain Township Police Department.

The officer was hurt after a group of juveniles were acting disorderly outside of the movie theatre. One of the juveniles resisted arrest, and the police officer was injured.

“This is completely unacceptable for something that is entirely preventable and puts these groups, the remainder of the public, and responding police officers at risk for victimization or injury,” the police department said.

Police are asking parents to be aware of movie times and curfews when dropping their children off at the movie theatre. Police said parents should know when the movie is over and should pick up their children at that time.

Colerain Township’s juvenile curfew law states, in part, that no one under the age of 18 is permitted in public without a parent accompanying them between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. unless the juvenile is going to school, church or their job.

Xscape Theatre’s policies are as follows:

  • No one 16 years old or younger is permitted at a movie beginning after 9 p.m. unless they are with a legal guardian who is 21 years or older.
  • A legal guardian can only supervise four juveniles.
  • If a movie finishes after 9 p.m., children under 16 years old have 20 minutes to leave the theatre.
