CINCINNATI -- Andrew Allen suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was hit by a car last week.

Doctors said Tuesday it could be months before they have a prognosis and for Allen to recover.

Allen, 18, is the brother of Brody Allen, the 2-year-old Colerain Township boy who died of cancer last month after the community put on a parade to help him celebrate Christmas. The family was back in the hospital with Andrew just 11 days after Brody's funeral.

Dr. Kyle Walsh said that some of Andrew Allen's organ systems have stabilized, but he still remains in critical condition.

Allen's father, Todd, thanked the first responders and hospital staff who saved Andrew's life.

"They had literally minutes to save my son's life, and they did it," he said.

Todd Allen urged people to donate blood, crediting that for helping to save Andrew.
