CINCINNATI – A motorcyclist and his passenger were killed when they crashed into a utility pole on Harrison Avenue in Westwood early Friday morning, police said.

Cincinnati police identified the victims as Chad Earls, 31, and Samantha Cobb, 29. The crash occurred about 12:40 a.m. at 2723 Harrison Ave., according to a news release.

Earls  failed to control his motorcycle and drove off the right side of the roadway,  police said. Excessive speed appears to be a factor. Impairment has not been determined.

Earls was not wearing a helmet. Cobb was wearing a helmet. Both died at the scene.

Police ask witnesses to contact the Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
