CINCINNATI -- A driver struck and killed a woman as she was crossing Harrison Avenue in Westwood early Friday morning, police said.
A man driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck hit and killed 60-year-old Billie Ellery at 1:40 a.m. as she was crossing the street near 2332 Harrison Avenue, Capt. David Fink said. Fink said the woman was not in a crosswalk.
A WCPO analysis found police identified nearby 1500 block of Harrison Avenue as a hot spot for crashes involving pedestrians. Nine intersections saw the most pedestrian-involved crashes between 2014 and 2016; two of them were along Harrison Avenue.
An online survey from the City of Cincinnati shows people have complained about pedestrians jaywalking near Cora Avenue, especially at night.
Harrison Avenue was closed between Cora and Oskamp Avenues until just before 6 a.m.
