CINCINNATI -- A 12-year-old boy crossing the street to catch his bus to school sustained life-threatening injuries when a car struck him at about 7 a.m. Thursday in the 2500 block of Montana Avenue.
Police said a Metro bus had stopped to let the boy cross from his home on Montana to wait for another Metro bus on the other side of the street when a female driver struck him as she went around the bus. She stayed on scene and was taken to the police station for questioning.
The boy is currently in surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He was not in a crosswalk as the stretch between Anaconda Drive and Interstate 74 has very few.
Police closed the road in both directions for about three hours as they completed their investigation.
