COVINGTON, Ky. – The Walnut Hills High School band left for Paris Sunday, heading to perform in the French capital.
The school band received a big honor in being selected to play in the New Year’s Day Parade on the famous Champs-Elysees. They’re one of just four bands – two from high schools and two from colleges – picked to perform. Walnut Hills was selected because of their reputation “and past success,” according to Associate Band Director Richard Canter.
“It's been a lot of planning and a lot of work, and the students have done a lot to prepare and have been highly successful, and we're excited for them," Canter said.
Until the parade, the 70 students will be sightseeing.
“They’re going to get to see all of the sites – the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Louvre,” Canter said.
