CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati and Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer Foxconn are now partners in future technology research.
"Why UC? Because UC has a strong legacy of co-op programming," Foxconn chairman Terry Gou said.
Foxconn is a global electronics manufacturer. Last week, Chairman Terry Gou was in Wisconsin with President Trump for the groundbreaking of a new plant.
The collaboration with UC's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences will focus on new areas like industrial internet and industrial artificial intelligence.
"I think this is only the beginning. We'll explore many other opportunities by engaging UC strength and Foxconn strength together, and create not just research education, but also a great accelerated innovation program," UC College of Engineering & Applied Science professor Jay Lee said.
Lee said this discussion with Foxconn began four years ago. He said he hopes it will lead to a new process that speeds up the transfer of knowledge from the classroom to the factory. He also hopes that relationships like this will make Cincinnati a bigger player in both technological research and talent.
