CINCINNATI -- A man is dead after he struck a city of Cincinnati dump truck and was ejected from his car Wednesday morning in Queensgate, police said.
At 9:04 a.m. Wednesday, Derrick Davidson, 37, was driving a 2004 Nissan Maxima east on Gest Street near Evans Street. Police say he crossed the double yellow line and struck a 2013 International City of Cincinnati dump truck operated by Jeremy Triggs, 30.
Davidson's car went off the road, striking a utility pole guide wire and the utility pole itself. Police say the car rolled over, ejecting Davidson. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police say Davidson was not wearing his seatbelt and that excessive speed and impairment appear to be factors in this crash.
The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
