CINCINNATI  - A 21-year-old Ohio hiker fell 200 feet in a Utah canyon and is in critical condition, according to police and media reports there.

Police told WCPO the injured man is Daniel Henderson. Friends are sharing the news on Facebook and tagging a page linked to Henderson that says he's from Blue Ash.

Police described his condition Sunday as "touch and go."

Henderson fell while hiking up Little Cottonwood Canyon near Lisa Falls on Friday, according to KTVX-TV in Salt Lake City. A state helicopter dropped a rescuer into the canyon to secure Henderson, then lifted him to a road where crews worked to stabilize him and keep him alive, according to reports.

A medical helicopter transported him to the hospital in critical condition.

“A fall up there is not just a fall, it’s a fall on a lot of rocky material," said Detective Ken Hansen with Unified Police Department.

“He was having a very, very difficult time breathing," Hansen said.

It was not clear how Henderson fell.
