CINCINNATI — One police officer was hurt early Tuesday morning after they jumped off an overpass while chasing a suspect who ran from officers.

According to the Cincinnati Police Department, officers saw a person driving erratically near Mitchell Avenue and Interstate 75 around 1:30 a.m. Before the police could pull over the driver, the driver pulled onto the right side of the road and got out of their vehicle. The officers tried to stop the driver once the driver was out of their vehicle, but the driver ran.

The driver jumped off the overpass to escape, and one officer jumped after them. Both landed on the ground below, but the driver got away.

The officer who jumped off the overpass was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
