CINCINNATI -- After being in operation for 17 years, Oakley's Blue Manatee Children's Bookstore will close its doors for good in January unless someone buys the store.

Owners Dr. John Hutton and Sandra Gross said in a post online they have tried to balance running the store as well as their other jobs and responsibilities, but they have come to accept that "there simply aren’t enough hours in the day..."

"Sandy and I (with our team) will consider all proposals," Hutton writes. All he and the team ask is that whoever buys the store carries on the tradition of "providing the best in children’s books and related activities/gift items, quality programming and author events, and championing values of tolerance, community, imagination, and a smackerel of insurgency."

Hutton also writes the store was recently renovated, making for an easy start to whoever buys it.

However, if no one purchases the space, the store is scheduled to close on Jan. 14.

If you are interested in purchasing the store, you are asked to email the Blue Manatee team at contact@bluemanateebooks.com.
