Northside group fundraising to restore iconic mural

CINCINNATI -- Northside's iconic flower mural has seen better days, but some residents and business owners are looking to change that.

A group called "Save the Daisies" is raising money to restore the "Northside Bloom" mural next to Hoffner Park.

Northside business owner Jim Swafford said the ArtWorks mural dates back to 2008.

"Over the past five or six years, it's really undergone some heavy weathering," he said.

The mural represents Northside's "rebirth" since harder times, according to Swafford. It's also a big draw for visitors.

"It's one of the most iconic images that you'll find on Northside if you search the internet," he said. "A lot of people stop here, a lot of tourists ... come here to get their photographs taken."

The group is trying to raise $15,000 by June 1 so the restored mural can be unveiled by the big July 4 celebration in Hoffner Park. Check out their Gofundme page for more information.
