CINCINNATI -- A driver drove around police barricades and into a sinkhole early Sunday morning in Madisonville, according to the Cincinnati Fire Department.

The driver was able to escape the sinking car by climbing out of a window and onto the roof. First responders used rope to pull the driver out of the sinkhole. Crews rescued the driver in less than seven minutes.

The driver was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with minor injuries.

A water main break caused the sinkhole on Erie Avenue. Erie is closed between Rosslyn and Brotherton as crews work to repair the road.
