Facing mounting financial problems and unable to raise enough money to declare Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Laser Spine Institute announced Friday it would close all four of its surgical centers — including one in Cincinnati — and cease operations immediately.
The Tampa-based health care company had specialized in spinal surgeries meant to relieve neck and back pain connected to a variety of health conditions. In addition to the Cincinnati location, it operated surgical centers in St. Louis, Tampa and Scottsdale, Arizona at the time of its closure.
Three more surgical centers had already been shut down during the company’s prior attempts to restructure and reduce costs.
According to a news release from chief marketing officer Kathleen Donald, Laser Spine Institute will attempt to redirect its patients to other surgical providers in the Cincinnati, St. Louis, Tampa and Scottsdale areas.
