CINCINNATI -- Meal-delivery services like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh and Plated have cropped up over the past year, but now Kroger is getting in on the action.

The Cincinnati-based grocery giant is now offering prepared meal kits – Prep+Pared – in Greater Cincinnati stores. Meals are fresh-made, chef-inspired, restaurant quality, easily prepared at home and affordable.

“Kroger continuously looks for ways to make our customers lives easier and they have told us they want fresh, convenient and affordable meal solutions," said Vanessa Egle, senior director of culinary strategy and development, in a news release. “With Prep+Pared, we’ve taken all of the work behind planning and preparing a fresh, delicious meal and made it easy to cook in just minutes.”

All of the kit ingredients are fresh and completely prepared and measured, offering only what is needed to prepare the meal, so there is no waste. Cooking time is in about 20 minutes or less. Each Prep+Pared kit feeds two adults and ranges in price from $14 to $18. There is no subscription needed.

The kits are currently available in four stores in Cincinnati – Hyde Park, Oakley, Harpers Point and Sharonville – with more stores coming soon. Although home delivery currently isn’t an option, Prep+Pared kits are available through ClickList online ordering at Oakley and Sharonville.

There are five different, seasonal recipes: Japanese-Inspired Beef Bowl, Chimichurri Steak, Moroccan-Inspired Spring Vegetables, Creamy Chicken and Bacon Alfredo, and Chicken Enchiladas Rojas. More recipes will be introduced with a focus on seasonal varieties.
