CINCINNATI — Ten families were displaced after a fire broke out in a Hyde Park apartment building Sunday evening, according to the Cincinnati Fire Department.
The fire department was called to the building on Madison Road after a bystander called 911 and said flames were visible from a first-floor window, CFD said. Residents were evacuated and no one was hurt, officials said.
Although fire crews were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes of arriving and the fire was contained to the first floor, 10 families living in the two-story apartment building have been displaced and will be assisted by the Cincinnati Red Cross.
Officials on scene said the fire caused smoke damage on the second floor and water damage in the basement level. CFD has not released what may have caused the fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 of damage.
