The recycling truck caught fire near the intersection of Millsdale Street and Woodbine Avenue around 7 a.m. Tuesday.
“Today’s incident is becoming far too common,” Rumpke's safety manager Bridgett Briggs wrote in a release. "Last year, we experienced 50 vehicle fires and seven facility fires because of flammable items placed in trash and recycling.”
It is not yet known what caused the fire. Biggs wrote that Rumpke continues to train their employees to watch out for things like lithium ion batteries, propane tanks or any other item which might cause a fire.
