CINCINNATI -- Amid rumors he’d run for office, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters announced Friday he will not run for another position.
Deters said in a statement that he is committed to serving as Hamilton County Prosecutor.
"Given rumors about my political future, I want to let the citizens of Hamilton County know that I remain 100% committed to serving as your Hamilton County Prosecutor,” Deters said. “I will not be running for another office. I take great pride in serving as your prosecutor and hope to do so for many years."
Deters wasn’t the only Tri-State official rumored to be running. Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said someone asked him to run against Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Cleveland, in the GOP primary.

But Jones squashed reports that he’d pursue a U.S. Senate seat.
“I gave it careful consideration, and I talked to many, many people,” Jones first told WCPO news partner The JournalNews on Wednesday. “I feel I have my dream job. I can affect a lot of government by having the bully pulpit, and I’m going to do that from here. I’m most effective as the sheriff and working here from Butler County, my home.”
