CINCINNATI -- The wait is over for the newest mystery flavor from local ice cream favorite Graeter's: Cheese Crown.
What's that, you ask? The Graeter's website announced Tuesday morning that the cheese crown Danish, which has been a Cincinnati bakery tradition for more than half a century, inspired 2016's flavor.
The new flavor will feature cheesecake-flavored ice cream with cinnamon sugar pastry pieces and fondant icing flakes, according to Graeter's company website.
Cheese Crown was tested as a bonus flavor last summer, but will now be a permanent ice cream choice found in the shops and in pints in grocery stores.
Graeter's has been hinting at the release of its new flavor for weeks on social media. The new dairy concoction follows 2015's flavor: bourbon pecan chocolate chip.
