CINCINNATI -- A fire in the kitchen of the 21c Museum Hotel closed Walnut Street Sunday evening, causing about $100,000 in damage, according to the Cincinnati Fire Department.

Police closed Walnut Street between Sixth and Seventh streets at about 5 p.m. while crews put out flames in Metropole, a restaurant within the 21c Museum Hotel. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed. The health department will assess the restaurant Monday to determine when it could reopen.

Police said some Metro bus routes were also affected temporarily.
