CINCINNATI -- A Queen City classic is the latest to join Downtown’s booming food scene.

Frisch’s will open a new location at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carew Tower on Fifth Street. The restaurant, which seats about 100 people, features new menu items and grab-and-go options. The spot will open to the public at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The 4,000-square-foot Downtown store is a prototype that could lead to other Downtown locations, CEO Jason Vaughn said. It will test catering options and new technologies, like the Ziosk tablet that lets customers pay at the table and ordering apps for takeout and catering options.

Grab-and-go options were created with the busy customer in mind, Vaughn said.

“They can come in, get their own soup and salad, they can take it to go,” Vaughn said. “The grab-and-go is a really quick hit … you don’t have to deal with the dining room, get in and get back to work.”

Vaughn told WCPO last June he was excited to bring a “heritage brand like Frisch’s” to Carew Tower.

“The city is resurging, family orientated. We felt like, what a great fit for Frisch’s to be back Downtown to serve those guests,” Vaughn said.

The last time Frisch’s lovers could grab a Big Boy Downtown was 2004 at its Sixth Street location. In honor of the new restaurant, the city declared June 5 “Big Boy Day in Cincinnati.”
