CINCINNATI — People might not be able to gather for the DAV 5K this weekend as they normally would, but that doesn't mean the 5K isn't happening.
This weekend, officials from DAV are asking people to take a jog or an afternoon ride to show support for veterans in the community.
DAV officials are also hoping people will still register and offer donations, since the pandemic, and the economic fallout from it, has hit the veteran community hard.
"Disabled veterans are going to be disproportionately affected by downturns and things like employment," Rob Lewis, communications director for DAV, said. "Of course a pandemic where a lot of veterans themselves, disabled veterans themselves, are uniquely exposed to this disease, to this virus, we have seen an uptick in the need, particularly around employment."
