CINCINNATI — Proceeds from the sale of a custom T-shirt will help the Cincinnati Zoo care for its animals while it is closed due to COVID-19.

Last week, zoo officials asked for help feeding and caring for its 2,000 animals, saying the closure will cause the zoo to lose millions of dollars each month it goes without revenue.

Proceeds from the Cincy Shirts T-shirt will go to the Zoo’s Emergency Operating Fund, which was set up to help the zoo continue to provide care for the animals.

The zoo’s last collaboration with Cincy Shirts yielded more than $200,000 for Zoos Victoria and was used to care for Australian wildlife impacted by wildfires.

Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard said he hopes the community will show similar support for the Cincinnati Zoo.

“We’re closed to the public, but our animal, horticulture and facilities teams are still here working hard to care for the animal and plant residents,” Maynard said. “The Zoo is in urgent need of funding right now and t-shirt sale proceeds will help.”

Donations can be made directly to the Zoo's Emergency Operating Fund.
