CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Pride Festival and Parade, originally set for June 27 and rescheduled for Oct. 3, has been canceled.

"Given the constant threat of COVID-19, it is not in the best interest of the community in which we serve to have such a large event that places tens of thousands of attendees at such high risk for spreading this potentially deadly virus," Chairperson Benjamin Morano announced Wednesday.

Morano said organizers would be ready to work on next year's festival and parade in the coming months, and he encouraged the community to continue its work for social justice, including registering to vote in the coming November election.

"And remember, Pride is more than just a festival or a parade. It is more than just one day per year. Pride is a constant state of mind, one that we should all be able to embrace every day," he wrote.

The next Cincinnati Pride is set for June 26, 2021.
