CINCINNATI — The car used by a suspect who shot at a plainclothes police officer Thursday night in the West End has been located, police said Friday.
The officer was not injured when the suspect fired shots around 8:30 in the area of Linn and Clark streets. The suspect is still on the loose.
Lt. Steve Saunders said officers did not have a physical description of the suspect but knew the suspect was driving a black Hyundai Sonota with temporary Ohio plates: J949584.
“At this point, we don’t know the person who fired the shots if they knew this was a plainclothes officer or not," Saunders said at the scene. "It doesn’t really matter. Honestly, if anyone is firing a shot at anyone, it’s wrong.”
According to Saunders, the officer had been part of the department's Holiday Violence Task Force, which sends out extra patrols targeted robbery and other violent crime in the last months of the year.
