CINCINNATI — A woman was injured while escaping a house fire in the CUF neighborhood early Saturday, according to Cincinnati Fire and EMS officials.
Crews responded to the fire at 1104 Kottman St. around 5 a.m. Saturday morning. They arrived to find a woman who had jumped from the third-floor window and landed on a mattress that neighbors laid out on the sidewalk. She was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for a broken leg.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of arrival, according to officials. They said the fire was contained to the third floor of the building.
District 3 fire chief Mark Sanders said it’s important to have a plan before you find yourself in a house fire.
“Anything they can do to pre-plan mentally, increase their chance of survival and it helps us help them,” Sanders said.
One of the families impacted by the fire has created a Go Fund Meto cover the cost of items lost.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated by the Cincinnati Fire Department Investigation Unit.
