CINCINNATI — A 31-year-old man admits burglarizing six homes on the same West Price Hill street over a two-week period, as well as another home nearby, according to court documents.
Justin Schardine, who told police he is a homeless addict, said he broke into six houses on Covedale Avenue between Sidney Road and Rapid Run Road.
Schardine said he also burglarized a home on Julmar Drive, about a half mile away in Green Township. All seven burglaries occurred between Feb. 25 and March 11, according to court records.
Schardine was carrying a gun in two burglaries and stole a gun in another, officials said.
He was caught on March 12, the day after his seventh break-in, according to documents. Someone reported a suspicious person walking between homes where burglaries had taken place. Schardine fit the description provided by witnesses.
A detective told Schardine to stop and he ran a short distance before being arrested. That’s when he told police he was carrying a gun.
Schardine is in the Justice Center on $450,000 bond ($50,000 on each count). He is charged with:
- three counts of aggravated burglary;
- four counts of burglary;
- having a weapon under disability;
- carrying a concealed weapon.
