BLUE ASH, Ohio — One of the Tri-State's biggest and most booming July 4 celebrations has been canceled for the first time in 15 years.
This year’s Red, White & Blue Ash celebration will not go on because of the COVID-19 pandemic, city officials announced on Thursday.
Red, White & Blue Ash was supposed to be held on July 4 at Summit Park.
The annual celebration, which is likely the largest in the region, typically draws tens of thousands of people. In 2018, Fire Chief Chris Theders estimated 100,000 people attended Red, White & Blue Ash.
Blue Ash Parks and Recreation Director Brian Kruse said in a statement that officials made the decision "with heavy hearts."
“We know how disappointing it is for the tens of thousands of guests who join us for the 4th of July every year, and we share in that disappointment, but keeping everyone healthy and safe right now must take precedence," Kruse said.
