BLUE ASH, Ohio — SummitFest, the one-day country music concert and festival scheduled for June 12 at Summit Park, has been canceled because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Blue Ash city officials announced Friday.
“We have a great tradition of bringing our community outstanding family-friendly events; however, to be responsible in these unprecedented times, we had to make this difficult decision,” said Blue Ash Parks and Recreation Director Brian Kruse.
Kruse said the city weighed many options for the festival, but ultimately decided its resources could be better used by focusing on smaller events and programs that are more adaptable to COVID-19 precautions.
Kruse also addressed potential concerns about the city’s popular 4th of July event, “Red White and Blue Ash.”
“At this point, we are planning to celebrate the 4th of July as the State of Ohio will allow and in a way that will be safe and positive for the community,” Kruse said. “Whether that is a return to our traditional format or another creative form, we will evaluate those options in the coming months.”
