ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two people are dead after a Thursday morning house fire in Anderson Township, according to the fire chief.
The fire happened on the 8300 block of Tidewater Court around 4 a.m. Thursday.
Two dogs also died in the blaze, according to Anderson Township Fire Chief Rick Martin. Normally, a woman and her adult daughter resided in the building, Martin said, but the coroner had not identified the bodies as of Thursday afternoon.
The building is a total loss, Martin said.
"When (crews) showed up, the fire was heavily involved," Martin said. "It was exposed out of the roof."
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office along with crews from Cincinnati, Union Township and Milford all assisted in fighting the fire.
Martin said crews had to pause rescue efforts due to structural damage caused by the fire.
"Any time we have a fire like this where we have a substantial collapse of a portion of the building, we want to get under there and make sure that somebody wasn't trapped under that area. It's a time-consuming process," he told WCPO.
Martin said the cause of the fire was still under investigation Thursday afternoon.
BREAKING. The Anderson Township Fire Chief is confirming one fatality in this mornings house fire. He says it’s unclear if anyone else was inside. Because of structural damage to the building crews are taking their time with this because of safety concerns. @WCPO
