Grant County Judge-Executive Chuck Dills issued a countywide burn ban Thursday, citing “current and predicted weather conditions and the extreme danger of grass and woodland fires” in the area.
All outdoor burning within the country should stop until Dills issues a second proclamation rescinding the ban, he wrote.
Grant joins a number of local counties — most located in Indiana — that have issued a burn bans in response to high temperatures and sparse rainfall. Ohio, Switzerland, Dearborn, Ripley, Franklin and Union counties in Indiana have all adopted burn bans in the last 10 days.
