BATAVIA, Ohio — One person is seriously injured after a crash in Union Township early Saturday morning, Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Around 7:30 a.m., a 27-year-old man was driving a Hyundai Accent northbound on I-275 near Milford Parkway, and his vehicle became disabled in the roadway.

OSHP said that Hyundai was then struck by a Chevrolet van operated by a 56-year-old man.

When the Hyundai was struck, the vehicle traveled off the roadway striking a concrete median barrier. The van traveled off the other side of the roadway striking the guardrail, OSHP said.

The 27-year-old — who was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle without a seatbelt on — suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to UC Hospital.

The 56-year-old man was transported to Bethesda North Hospital with minor injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt.

The Milford Police Department, Union Township Police Department and the Union Township Fire and EMS all assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the OSHP.
