CINCINNATI — A 22-year-old man is facing multiple charges after his 7-month-old daughter was shot Saturday night by her 5-year-old sibling in West Price Hill, according to Hamilton County court documents.

Cincinnati police said officers responded to the 1800 block of Sunset Avenue around 9 p.m. Saturday for a 5-year-old who had shot another child in the thigh.

CPD said the infant's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

CPD arrested Martez Jones on three counts of child endangerment, according to court records.

According to court documents, Jones left "a loaded and functional handgun on the windowsill of the bedroom" where his 5-year-old, 4-year-old and 7-month-old children were "while he left the room to use the bathroom."

"One of the older children handled the weapon causing it to fire and strike (the 7-month-old) causing serious physical harm to her," according to court documents.

Jones was arrested based on physical evidence, witness statements and his own admission.

WCPO has reached out to CPD for further information regarding Montez's arrest.

Montez is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail and is expected in court Monday.
