BATAVIA, Ohio — The man accused of shooting his mother in a Miami Township home on New Year’s Eve now stands charged with murder, according to court documents.
A Clermont County grand jury on Thursday indicted Alexei Siddique on charges of murder and having a weapon while under disability. The 33-year-old had originally been charged with felonious assault before his mother succumbed to her injuries Jan. 6.
Police say Tatiana Romanova, 62, was shot in the face twice by Siddique during an ongoing dispute at their home on Windy Hollow Court on Dec. 31.
First responders transported Romanova to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she died days later.
Police said Siddique called 911 several times last month to ask for police to respond to the home where he lived with his mother. Police said they made five calls on the home in December before Romanova was shot, even making a call earlier the day of the shooting before Romanova sent them away.
