BATAVIA, Ohio — A former Bethel-Tate High School coach earlier this month was arrested for the third time on sex charges involving a minor.
According to Clermont County court records, Chad Wilhoff, 41 of Anderson Township, on Jan. 4 was arraigned in the Common Pleas Court of Clermont County on new charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and three counts of sexual battery.
Prior to these charges, the former basketball, soccer and track coach faced 16 separate sex crime charges, all felonies, including gross sexual imposition, sexual battery and unlawful sexual misconduct involving two minors.
According to WCPO 9 news partner, the Clermont Sun, a grand jury indicted Wilhoff on the additional charges after a third individual came forward accusing Wilhoff of the crimes. The charges involving the first individual occurred between 2002 and 2007; those involving the second individual occurred between 1994 and 1996, when Wilhoff was 15 and 17 years old, and the accuser was younger than 13 years old; and the most recent alleged incidents occurred between June 2007 and January 2008, according to the Clermont Sun's review of court records.
All told, he now faces 20 counts.
Wilhoff is not currently teaching at any public school districts, according to the Clermont Sun.
When initial charges first were filed in July 2020, Clermont County Assistant Prosecutor Scott O’Reilly said the charges stemmed from Wilhoff’s relationship with one victim, a girl whom he began to abuse when she was 12 years old.
According to the most recent indictment, filed Dec. 29, the individual was 15 and 16 at the time of the alleged abuse.
