BATAVIA, Ohio — The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left one person dead early Sunday.
The crash occurred just before 1:00 a.m. on State Route 32 in Batavia Township. Investigators said 49-year-old Jerry Fields II was traveling west in the eastbound lane of State Route 32 when he struck a car traveling east. Fields was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver struck by Fields was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.
Both drivers were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. It is unknown if alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Batavia Post.
